The International Day of Women and Girls in Science was vibrantly celebrated at the Bison Regional Fair hosted at Holy Cross School in Winnipeg—an inspiring gathering organized by Dr. Anju Bajaj. The event brought together students, educators, and organizations committed to advancing opportunities for girls in STEM.
SWIS Africa was proud to partner with Dr. Bajaj for this impactful celebration, joining a powerful lineup of organizations dedicated to empowering young minds.

A Strong Collaborative Presence
At our exhibition table, SWIS Africa sat alongside:
Success Waymarks Foundation
Raising the Foundations of Generations Inc.
MaryEmpowers
The atmosphere was energetic and purpose-driven. Students eagerly moved from table to table, asking questions, exploring STEM pathways, and learning about the different initiatives available to support their dreams.
At the SWIS Africa table, we had meaningful conversations with students about research, innovation, digital storytelling, and the importance of building confidence in science. It was inspiring to see young girls already curious about careers in engineering, medicine, technology, and research.

An Engaging and Inspiring Panel Discussion
One of the highlights of the day was the panel discussion featuring accomplished women in STEM. What made it especially powerful was the format—students were invited on stage to ask questions directly.
They asked bold, thoughtful questions about:
Career journeys and challenges
Overcoming self-doubt
Balancing passion with perseverance
Navigating male-dominated fields
The responses were honest, practical, and deeply encouraging. The room was filled with moments of connection—young girls seeing reflections of who they could become.
Events like this do more than celebrate a day; they build confidence, expand vision, and normalize women’s excellence in science.

Amplifying the Message Beyond the Event
In celebration of the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, SWIS Africa also produced a short video highlighting some of the impactful work we are doing to advance African women in STEM through research training, storytelling, and visibility initiatives.

The video reflects our continued commitment to ensuring that women and girls are not only present in science—but visible, confident, and influential.
Moving Forward Together
Partnering with Dr. Anju Bajaj at the Bison Regional Fair reaffirmed the power of collaboration. When schools, nonprofits, and community leaders come together, we create ecosystems where girls in STEM can thrive.
The future of science is inclusive, bold, and diverse—and celebrations like this remind us that the next generation is ready.
