Opening Doors for 42 Young Girls: SWIS Africa Sponsors JAMB Fees in Nigeria

At SWIS Africa, we believe that talent is everywhere, but opportunity is not. As part of the SWIS Empowerment Programme, we took a meaningful step toward closing that gap by sponsoring the JAMB examination fees for 42 young girls in secondary school in Ibadan, Nigeria.

For many students, especially girls, the transition from secondary school to higher education is not always straightforward. Financial constraints, limited access to academic support, and social expectations often stand in the way. For some families, paying for JAMB registration alone can be a difficult decision. As a result, bright and capable students are sometimes forced to delay their dreams or abandon them altogether.

This is the reality we set out to change.

Through this initiative, SWIS Africa partnered with trusted tutorial centers across Ibadan, including UNIPREP Tutorial Center, to identify deserving students and ensure they receive both financial support and academic preparation. These centers play an important role in helping students build confidence, strengthen their knowledge, and approach their exams with the right mindset.

By covering the cost of JAMB registration for 42 girls, we are doing more than paying exam fees. We are sending a message that their dreams are valid, their education matters, and their future is worth investing in.

The journey to university is a critical turning point in a young person’s life. Yet for many girls, this transition is filled with uncertainty. Some face pressure to prioritize other responsibilities over their education. Others lack role models who can guide them through the process. Without the right support, the path forward can feel unclear and out of reach.

This is why our work goes beyond financial assistance. Through the SWIS Empowerment Programme, we are creating a support system that combines mentorship, academic resources, and opportunities for personal growth. We want these girls not only to gain admission into higher institutions, but also to thrive when they get there.

Each of the 42 girls supported through this initiative represents a story of resilience and potential. They are future scientists, leaders, innovators, and changemakers. By removing one barrier, we are helping them take a confident step toward the future they deserve.

This effort is part of a larger vision. SWIS Africa is committed to expanding this support to more schools and more communities across Nigeria. We believe that when young girls are given the chance to succeed, the impact extends far beyond the individual. It strengthens families, uplifts communities, and contributes to national development.
