ree

We are thrilled to announce that Shaping African Women in STEM (SWIS Africa) has been featured in the 2025–2026 New England Biolabs (NEB) Catalogue & Technical Reference, a globally recognized publication in the life sciences community.

The feature highlights our mission to champion African women in STEM through storytelling, mentorship, and skills development. It sheds light on the significant gender disparity in STEM fields across Africa where only about 20% of scientists and engineers are women, and how SWIS Africa is tackling this challenge by creating platforms for visibility, inspiration, and empowerment.

Founded in June 2020 by Samuel Ogunsola, SWIS Africa uses storytelling as a powerful tool to celebrate the journeys of African women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Our signature “STEM Women Crush” series has already spotlighted the achievements of more than 50 African women making an impact globally. Through interviews with professionals at organizations like NVIDIA, Google, and Microsoft, we continue to inspire the next generation of scientists and innovators.

Beyond storytelling, SWIS Africa provides practical training and mentorship. With over 10 workshops reaching more than 1,000 young women, we have equipped participants with valuable skills in areas such as data analytics, bioinformatics, research writing, and scholarship applications.

Our recognition in the NEB Catalogue is a proud milestone that underscores the global relevance of our work. NEB, a trusted leader in molecular biology reagents and biotechnology, has a wide international reach. Being featured in this catalogue means SWIS Africa’s story will inspire scientists, educators, and institutions around the world to support gender equity in STEM.

As we look ahead, we are excited to build on this momentum by launching an online mentorship platform and a scholarship fund for young women in STEM across Africa. We invite corporate and academic partners to join us in sustaining this movement for long-term impact.

✨ This feature in the NEB Catalogue reaffirms our belief that empowering African women in STEM is not just a regional priority—it’s a global imperative. Together, we can shape a more inclusive, innovative, and equitable future.
